Conserving Water

Water Cycle

Use Water Wisely --Are you taking our precious water resources for granted?  Do you ask yourself -- every time you turn on the faucet, use the washing machine or dishwasher, linger in a hot shower, or "spend" our most precious natural resource -- "Is it worth the water?"  Here are some common sense conservation tips and information to help you save both water and money!

Be Water Smart about Landscaping -- Whether you are building your dream home, or making some much needed improvement to an older home's landscaping, tackle these gardening projects with water conservation in mind.  Learn about what your lawn needs to thrive in the Texas heat...how to plant to attract butterflies and other beneficial insects...and how to choose the right irrigation system for your yard and garden.

Learn About Water -- You're never too young or too old to learn about where our water comes from, how we use it, and how we can protect it for generations to come.  This section contains a wealth of important resources for students and teachers...and for parents who want to be prepared to make intelligent choices about water use today and in the future.

Avoid Polluting --Sadly...we have taken our water resources for granted.  As more and more people come to live in our great state, the impacts on our environment increase, as well.  Our aquifers are being drawn down, more recreational use of our waterways increases the risk of gasoline and oil spills from boats and jet skis, and improper disposal of household chemicals and toxic waste endangers our water supply.  You CAN make a difference...learn how.
